"I mean at this price point for the whole year it's a no brainer. And even if I'm mostly focusing on bootstrapping things, I want to keep an eye on what jobs are out there."

"I've been going through the directory and I just wanna say it's really kind of you to curate this list and share it with strangers. Especially when there are so many layoffs right now. Even if I don't find a job through it, it's just hopeful and inspiring seeing a list of companies who aren't just grinding up staff and spitting them out to chase a quick buck."

Great People Keep Landing in Burnout Systems

Most listings market perks, not day-to-day reality. Without a filter, finding companies that actually care is mostly guesswork.

WITHOUT A FILTER

You spend hours applying before you learn the culture is broken

  • "Hustle" is rewarded while boundaries are treated like a lack of commitment

  • Career pages promise balance, but the day-to-day reality is invisible

  • You burn time sorting noisy listings just to find one solid lead

WITH CALM COMPANIES

You apply where healthy work is built into how the company runs

  • You only see companies with sustainable pace and real autonomy

  • Every company is vetted on operating signals, not polished employer branding

  • You get curated roles in one weekly email, ready to apply

Hey everyone,

I'm Raul, the founder and curator of Calm Companies.

After over a decade in the tech industry, working at an employee monitoring startup and getting fired for trying to create a better work culture, I started looking for companies that prioritize productivity and work-life balance over hours worked.

Over the years, I've spent numerous hours researching and curating a list of companies that actually do this. And what I found is that there are only a handful of them. And interestingly enough, the smaller, profitable and bootstrapped a company is, the more likely it is to prioritize this.

Back in 2021, I found my first calm company. They had no meetings, no deadlines, and no full-time employees. And it was a game changer. Working just 4 hours a day, on my own terms, I became more productive, more creative, and genuinely happier. When I needed time off, I took it—no guilt, no permission required.

Things changed a lot since then, and now I'm on a journey to build my own calm company.

Hopefully, this tiny website can help you find your next dream job.

Society was built for thousands of years on the premise that first, we rent our time to others and, if there's some time left, we focus on ourselves. Though it's funny because if we don't take care of ourselves first, how do we expect to give our best to others?
