How they work

Calibre is an intentionally small, bootstrapped company that builds a web performance platform and describes itself as people-first. They operate without a fixed office and design work practices to prioritise employee wellbeing and customer outcomes.

Calibre operates a four-day work week with a 32-hour maximum and no overtime. The team works remotely and hires across 60+ countries; employees are trusted to create their own schedules as long as they remain accountable for their work.

Collaboration emphasises autonomy and regular feedback: teammates receive regular 1:1s, are encouraged to own their areas and to create processes that help the team work better together. Calibre expects people to speak with customers so the whole company maintains a shared understanding of user needs.

The company provides hardware and workspace support: a MacBook Pro (or equivalent) and peripherals, a one-time workspace budget (A$1,500), and up to A$500/month for a coworking desk. There is an annual personal development allowance (A$1,500) available after six months. Compensation is market-based with transparent pay ranges and regular pay increases.

Leave and wellbeing policies include paid annual leave, sick leave and paid parental leave; some benefits may vary by country and Calibre shares a transparent list of benefits with candidates.

How they hire

Apply using the online application form and answer the required questions; Calibre does not require a cover letter and asks candidates to learn about the company and respect the stated application process.

Each application is reviewed for skills, experience and motivation, and applicants receive responses at every stage of the process. You’ll hear from them about the application status within seven business days.

If your application passes the initial review you'll be invited to a first call focused on values and logistics, followed by conversations about team collaboration. Calibre may ask candidates to complete a paid take-home project that demonstrates relevant skills.

After interviews and evaluation of any test project, Calibre asks for three professional references (preferably two previous managers) before making a decision. Successful candidates receive an offer letter and Calibre commits to replying to every applicant regardless of outcome.

Calibre hires remotely across 60+ countries, provides a transparent list of benefits to candidates, and encourages applications from people with underrepresented backgrounds.
