How they work

Tailwind Labs operates as a small, design-led team that stays intentionally lean. Team members wear many hats, collaborate directly with the founders, and take work from early exploration through to a finished, high-polish release.

They prioritize shipping meaningful work on short cycles. Rather than running long, multi-quarter initiatives, they favor projects that can be delivered in roughly two months or less, so they can learn quickly, revisit priorities, and keep momentum high.

Craft is central to how they work. They hold a high bar for polish, accessibility, performance, and documentation, and they invest the time needed to ship work they are proud to stand behind.

They are fully remote and collaborate in real time. Day-to-day work happens from home, with tight feedback loops through tools like Tuple for pairing and Figma for design collaboration, keeping communication fast and decisions lightweight.

How they hire

Tailwind Labs hires thoughtfully and evaluates candidates on practical signals, not just credentials. Applications are expected to be role-specific and should help them understand what a candidate is excited to build, what they have shipped that they are proud of, and how they approach craft—whether that is UI polish, engineering quality, or clear communication.

The process typically starts with an introductory call to assess mutual fit and answer questions. From there, they use a paid take-home project (scoped to about half a day) to see how candidates approach realistic work in a focused, respectful format.

Next, they run an in-depth interview centered on the project and relevant experience, followed by a one-hour pair programming session. Pairing helps them assess collaboration style, communication, and how a candidate works through unfamiliar problems—an important part of how the team operates day to day.

They aim to keep timelines clear and communication straightforward, reviewing applications over a couple of weeks and moving candidates through the steps in a structured sequence before making an offer.
